Mazor Robotics signs deal with group purchasing organization

Israel’s Mazor Robotics, creator of the Renaissance surgical guidance system, reported today that it has signed an agreement with one of the largest group purchasing organizations for hospitals and acute and non-acute healthcare facilities.

Under the agreement, the company’s products will be available to the GPO’s members, which include hundreds of hospitals and freestanding surgery centers in the U.S. Mazor didn’t name the GPO in its announcement.

“This is a significant achievement putting in place a framework to expand our Renaissance footprint with this hospital corporation,” Mazor CEO Ori Hadomi said in a statement. “With three of its member hospitals already using the Renaissance system, it clearly demonstrates the effectiveness of our strategy to penetrate individual hospitals as well as national accounts.”

Mazor’s stock was up about 7 percent today shortly following the announcement.
